Living by Faith: Choosing Life Through God’s Word

At Spirit of Life Church, Pastor Daniel Chhetri shared a powerful and timely message titled “Faith to Live By”. This sermon highlighted an essential truth that speaks to all believers: Faith is not just something we believe, it is a choice we make, a way of life, and a path to the abundant life God desires for us.

A Universal Truth for Every Situation

The message began with a foundational biblical principle: the Word of God is applicable to every area of life, regardless of time, place, or circumstance. God’s instructions, promises, and principles are not confined to church walls or limited to the “spiritual” moments of life. They are designed to guide our daily decisions, shape our worldview, and anchor us during uncertain times.

Referencing Deuteronomy 30:15 and 19, Pastor Daniel reminded us that God sets before us two options: life and death, blessings and curses. However, He also lovingly urges us to choose life. The emphasis here is on the power of personal choice. God will never force His will upon us, we are invited to respond to His Word and choose the path that leads to true life.

“See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction… Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.” – Deuteronomy 30:15, 19

Faith is a Personal Responsibility

Many believers find comfort in the ministry of anointed leaders and prayer warriors. While these individuals are gifts to the Body of Christ, we are not called to depend entirely on others for our breakthrough. Pastor Daniel emphasized that faith must be personal. Healing, deliverance, and transformation are available to those who choose to stand on God’s promises, believe His Word, and act accordingly.

Miracles do not depend on the presence of someone anointed but on our decision to believe and obey God’s Word.

A Lesson from Peter: Obedience Brings Results

To illustrate this, Pastor Daniel reflected on the story of Peter in Luke 5. Despite having fished all night and caught nothing, Peter obeyed Jesus when He instructed him to cast the net once more. This act of obedience, against all natural reasoning, resulted in an abundant catch.

The lesson is clear: God’s Word carries power, even when our past experiences say otherwise. When we act in faith, even in areas where we have previously failed, we make room for God to perform the miraculous.

“But because you say so, I will let down the nets.” – Luke 5:5

The Word is Near, It’s in Your Mouth and Heart

Another cornerstone of the message was taken from Deuteronomy 30:11–14 and Romans 10:6–9. Pastor Daniel beautifully explained that we do not need to search the heavens or travel great distances to find God’s help. His Word is already with us, in our hearts and in our mouths.

This means that God’s promises are accessible, not distant. As believers, we are called to read the Word, believe it deeply, and declare it boldly. When we do this, the power of the Word activates in our lives and brings forth what it promises.

“The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart, that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim.” – Romans 10:8

Faith isn’t only about mental agreement, it involves believing in the heart and confessing with the mouth. Salvation, healing, deliverance, and provision are all rooted in this divine principle.
