Discover the divine authority given to believers in Christ and learn how to apply it in your life through faith, study of the Word, prayer, and fasting, to live a victorious Christian life.
In Christ, you are not an ordinary person; He has given you divine authority. This authority empowers us to live by faith, utilizing the strength and power Christ has bestowed upon us. Unfortunately, many believers today are unaware of the immense authority they possess through their faith in Christ. Without this knowledge, we cannot wield our authority effectively, missing out on the full blessings and victory that come from a life led by faith.
Jesus Christ has not only rescued us from the grip of Satan and sin but has also granted us victory over Satan’s deceitful power. Through His birth, death, and resurrection, we have been given the authority to become children of God, and all authority resides with Him. As believers, we are integral parts of His body, and consequently, we have no reason to fear. We are seated with Christ in heavenly places, destined to reign with Him.
To comprehend, believe, and apply this authority in our lives, we must engage in deep study of the Word, prayer, and fasting. The Bible tells us, “That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit” (John 3:6). This means that our rebirth in Christ makes us spiritual beings, endowed with divine authority. By immersing ourselves in the Scriptures, we learn about the promises and the power that God has given us. Prayer allows us to communicate directly with God, seeking His guidance and wisdom in utilizing our authority. Fasting helps us to focus on the spiritual realm, setting aside earthly distractions, and aligning ourselves with God’s will.
As we grow in our understanding and application of this authority, we experience a profound transformation in our lives. We begin to walk in victory, overcoming challenges and obstacles with the confidence that comes from knowing we are children of the Most High God. Jesus said in Matthew 28:18, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” As His followers, we share in this authority and are called to exercise it in our daily lives.
The authority we have in Christ enables us to resist the devil and his schemes, as James 4:7 tells us, “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” We can stand firm against the enemy, knowing that we have the backing of Heaven. This authority also empowers us to pray for others, to bring healing, deliverance, and restoration. Mark 16:17-18 says, “And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name, they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”
Understanding our authority in Christ is key to living a victorious Christian life. It allows us to step into the fullness of God’s plan and purpose for our lives, overcoming every obstacle and challenge that comes our way. By deepening our relationship with God through the Word, prayer, and fasting, we become more attuned to His voice and His guidance, walking in the power and authority that He has graciously given us.
