In the Kingdom of God, every believer is uniquely called, divinely anointed, and purposefully placed. Yet many spend years striving in areas God never assigned them to. In this powerful teaching, “Knowing Your Unique Calling and Anointing”, Pastor Caleb Khaling brings clarity and conviction on the importance of recognizing, accepting, and walking in the specific calling and anointing God has placed on your life.
Jesus promised that those who believe in Him would have “rivers of living water” flowing from within them (John 7:38). These rivers represent the life, power, and anointing of the Holy Spirit operating through each believer. However, how this anointing flows can vary according to one’s divine assignment.
Ephesians 4:11 outlines the Fivefold Ministry:
Apostles
Prophets
Evangelists
Pastors
Teachers
These roles are not just religious titles—they are expressions of Christ’s ministry through His Body. Remarkably, Jesus Himself walked in all five offices:
Apostle – Hebrews 3:1
Prophet – Luke 4:24, John 4:29
Evangelist – Luke 4:18
Pastor – John 10:14, 1 Peter 5:4
Teacher – Matthew 9:35
John 3:34 and Ephesians 4:7 affirm that God gives the Spirit without measure, yet the grace for ministry is uniquely given “according to the measure of Christ’s gift.” That means no two callings are exactly alike. Every believer is endowed with a specific portion of God’s anointing designed for their particular assignment.
“You will only thrive in the area God has truly called you to.”
Pastor Caleb warns that stepping outside your divine assignment can cause confusion and chaos—just as seen in the life of Jonah, who ran from his calling and faced storms until he returned to obedience.
While most believers are called into one primary office, some operate in more than one. Throughout Scripture and church history, we find examples of those with multiple graces:
David – served as a king, priest, and prophet
Paul – functioned as an apostle, prophet, and teacher (1 Corinthians 12:27–30)
Kenneth E. Hagin – recognized as both a prophet and teacher
But it’s important to note: not everyone is called to multiple roles. Your role may be less visible, but it is never less valuable.
In a world of constant comparison, Pastor Caleb strongly emphasizes this truth: Do not mimic others. God’s anointing is not mass-produced—it is tailor-made.
The danger of imitation is that it disconnects us from the flow of our personal anointing. When you walk in someone else’s calling, you leave your own seat empty. But when you stand confidently in your God-given role, “rivers of living water” will flow from your life, blessing others and advancing God’s Kingdom.
Seek God’s Voice – Spend time in prayer and the Word. God reveals your calling through intimate relationship.
Look for Fruit and Burden – What spiritual burdens stir your heart? What fruit has your obedience produced?
Submit to Godly Counsel – Leaders and mentors can help confirm your calling and guide your growth.
Stay in Your Lane – Don’t rush into titles. Let God raise you in His timing and according to your measure.
Remain Faithful – Calling is not a destination—it’s a journey of consistent obedience and surrender.
Your calling is not about platform, popularity, or performance—it’s about obedience and faithfulness. When you discover your unique purpose and flow in God’s anointing, your life becomes a powerful vessel through which others are touched, healed, and transformed.
Pastor Caleb’s message is a clarion call to rise up, not as a copy of someone else, but as an authentic servant of Christ walking confidently in the assignment heaven wrote for you.
